Information We Collect
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
TaskWise operates with an offline-first architecture. All your data is stored locally on your device:
- Tasks and Subtasks: Task titles, descriptions, priorities, due dates, and completion status
- Chat History: Your conversations with the AI assistant
- App Preferences: Theme settings, haptic feedback preferences, and other settings
- API Keys: If you choose to provide your own API key, it is encrypted and stored securely on your device using Android Keystore
Account Information (Optional)
If you sign in with Google or Email:
- Firebase Authentication: Email address, display name, and profile photo (from Google)
- User Preferences: Your onboarding choices (role, focus areas, productive time)
Subscription Data
If you subscribe to TaskWise Pro:
- RevenueCat: Manages subscription status, purchase history, and entitlements
- We do NOT store payment card details - all payments are processed by Google Play
Analytics & Crash Reporting
- Firebase Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics (feature usage, session duration)
- Sentry: Crash reports and performance monitoring (no personal data included)
Data Sent to Third-Party Services
When you use the AI assistant features, your messages are sent to third-party AI providers:
- Google Gemini API: For AI-powered responses
- OpenRouter API: For alternative AI models (when you provide your own API key)
What is sent:
- Your message text
- Attached images (if any)
- Contextual information about your tasks (to provide relevant assistance)
What is NOT sent:
- Personal identification information
- Device identifiers
- Location data
- Contact information
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption at Rest: API keys and sensitive data are encrypted using AES-GCM encryption with Android Keystore
- No Cloud Storage: Your tasks and chat history remain on your device
- Secure Transmission: All API communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Native Code Protection: Embedded API keys are obfuscated in native code for additional security
Usage Limits
Free Tier
- Daily AI Messages: 25 per day
- Monthly AI Messages: 250 per month
- Usage resets automatically at midnight (local time) and start of each month
Pro Subscription
- Daily AI Messages: 250 per day
- Monthly AI Messages: 2,500 per month
- Access to all AI models
Usage counts are stored locally on your device. No personal data is collected for tracking purposes.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: View all your stored data within the app
- Deletion: Delete your tasks, chat history, or all app data through Settings → Log Out
- Export: Export your tasks for backup purposes
- API Key Control: Add, change, or remove your API keys at any time
Data Retention
- Local Data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the app
- Account Data: Deleted when you delete your account
- Third-Party AI Requests: Subject to the privacy policies of Google (Gemini) and OpenRouter
Children's Privacy
TaskWise is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
